Polar bear cubs depend on their mother for the first two years of their cold, northern lives. Although polar bears are solitary as adults, the relationship between a mother and its cubs and among siblings is among the few social behaviors identified in the species. This family of bears is well underway in establishing an unbreakable bond thanks to frigid winds and sub-zero temperatures.
